The service was led on behalf of the Church of Scotland Presbytery of Clyde by Rev David Burt, Moderator and Minister of Old Gourock & Ashton linked with Greenock St Ninian’s, Rev Robbie Hamilton, Presbytery Clerk and Rev Teri Peterson, Minister of Gourock St John’s, with many representatives also present from Presbytery. Our pastoral assistant Lynsey Graham led the prayers, and readings were by Ewen Cameron and Rita Carmichael, session clerks of both churches. There was a great attendance from both congregations who enjoyed a very moving and uplifting service full of inspirational guidance and beautiful hymns.
Following the service there was an opportunity to further our fellowship with lovely refreshments in the church hall.
The churches officially became a Union as of 1 January 2024 and would be known as Inverkip, Skelmorlie & Wemyss Bay Church as per the Basis of Union.
