Some thoughts from Barbara Edmonson at Vision Ministries for whom we are filling Smartie tubes with 20p’s to help bring clean water to the people living in the slums of Kibera, Nairobi.
“Two scriptures that have directed me throughout my years as a Christian – Proverbs 3:5-6 and Matthew 6:33
They have been lifelines many times, both personally and for Vision Ministries, but they are not alone – God’s word in total is a lamp to our feet and light to our path.
We have a God who will never leave or forsake us a God who is all powerful, loving and practical, who can be trusted 100%, stretching out His hand to humanity for us to grasp hold of and put our trust in.
We should be rushing to His side to grasp hold of the love lifeline to peace and security.
Most times we think we know what we need and how to go about getting it, we think we know what is best for us – but in reality – we have little or no idea.
We cannot see beyond our finite abilities. We don’t see round the corners……We have an infinite God.
His love, care and compassion flow out to us through His never-ending grace and mercy.
Quote I read some while ago: ‘It is incredibly encouraging that Gods’ grace is both the inclination of the divine heart to treat us better than we deserve and is the extension of that inclination in practical help’
Does He have our co-operation? Our willingness, does He have our hunger for a relationship with Him to receive from Him putting ourselves aside?
Whatever knowledge we think we have or think we know of God isn’t even a pin prick of Who He is and how much He loves us. I for one, don’t think I have dipped my toe into the depth of God. As King David declared “Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it”
Lord help us this month to trust more in you, help us to a deeper, closer relationship with you, to lean and trust in you with all our hearts, submitting every area of our lives to you.”
