Vision Ministries – May 2026

Some thoughts from Barbara Edmonson at Vision Ministries for whom we are filling Smartie tubes with 20p’s to help bring clean water to the people living in the slums of Kibera, Nairobi.

Peace (part 2)

We are continuing on the theme of peace this month.

Life can just get, well, too complicated. We want, would like to understand everything, work out the perfect solution to problems we, and the world around us face, relying on our limited, finite knowledge.

We hope for peace in this troubled world, in our families, our communities and country. But peace seems so often to elude us. There are so many people with mental health issues because life doesn’t seem to make sense and often appears too difficult to negotiate.

There are many self-help groups, but few, if any, bring the peace we crave and desire.

Let’s be honest, as long as there are people in this world there will be struggles and strife, there will be wars, famine, heartache, conflicting viewpoints and opinions robbing us of that peace we so desperately seek.

How do we cope, how do we ‘get through’ each day?

Remember last month I mentioned a scripture, Isaiah 26:3, ‘You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You.’ Whose mind is continued – an intentional, committed, determined decision to focus on God, on Jesus.

In the words of Jesus, found in John 16:33“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Peter walked on water when the storm raged around him, through the invitation of Jesus Peter broke the power of natural law – when his eyes were fixed on Jesus – when his faith, his hope was not distracted by the wind and the waves – Peter had peace in the middle of the storm because he purposefully kept his attention on Jesus.

Let me tell you that peace is available to you and I Today, right now, but it can only be found when we focus on Him, Jesus, the Prince of Peace.

He gives to us; a free gift, of unshakeable peace that passes all understanding which will guide us through life, guarding our hearts and minds in Him, as we trust in Him.

God is in control, He is still on the throne, He is still Lord of lords and King of kings and always will be. He is the only stable surety, who never changes, the Rock on whom we can trust.

So, this month let’s be intentional on focusing on biblical truths, trusting God in the anxieties we face and allow  the peace of God to rule in our hearts and minds, Let’s keep our eyes on Him and allow Him to lead and guide our steps ushering in that supernatural peace which is permanent, proactive and rooted through our relationship with Him.

Love and blessings
Barbara
